TRADE NAMES
A trade name is a sign or name that identifies a business and distinguishes it from other businesses with the same or similar activities.
It may be formed of acronyms, corporate names, drawings, family names, figures, images, invented words, logos, and words referring to the nature of the business, or any combination of these.
A trade name is not to be confused with a company name.
Registering a COMPANY NAME in the commercial registry gives the company its own legal personality and identity, allowing it to operate legally; it does not distinguish it from others in the market, but simply identifies it as a corporate entity.
To obtain legal protection for its products or services in the market, a business needs to register its TRADEMARK. Similarly, if it wants to protect its business activities, it is advisable to register its TRADE NAME.
